This is the Wonderful Wallaby. Carol A. Anderson, of Cottage Creations, designed it and knitters galore have knitted it. The pattern booklet is Cottage Creations W03, not available as a download. It is well worth the effort to locate it at your local yarn shop or favorite internet shop.

Mine is knitted in left-overs from another Cottage Creations project: a full sized Rambling Rows afghan. I ran out of oddments and ended up leaving the hood off and knitted a garter stitch collar instead. It’s a cozy sweater, with a built-in handwarmer. When you buy the booklet you will have the pattern for a Wallaby in almost all the sizes people come in, from size 2 Toddler to 48″ chest. Try the Wonderful Wallaby when you have time. Bet you can’t make just one!
I love this pattern–have to whip out another almost immediately. I do them in 2 yr. increments for the granddaughters, but one of last year’s has disappeared in a custody mixup, so I need to replace it pronto. I love the idea of the oddments, but I would never have enough for that many sweaters. Indeed, I have done the opposite. Since I have to order in the Plymouth Encore I use for sweater yarn, I always have extra, so I knit log cabin afghans from it. Just backwards of what you are doing.
My Rambling Rows pattern came in today. Perhaps I can start in the spring.
@Panhandle Jane…It is a wonderful pattern, as are so many of the Cottage Creations patterns. I just bought yarn this weekend, Plymouth Encore, to start another Rambling Rows pretty soon.

i have knit several of these in size 2 and 4 as baby gifts. they are very impressive when opened by an expectant mother. they are pretty easy and don’t take very long to knit. someday i will make a full size one.
@kathy…they do make a nice comfy sweater for an adult as well as a wee one.
