You’ll find these mailboxes on North Whitefish Point Road, between Paradise and (as you might expect) Whitefish Point. Between 1971 and 2000, the average annual snowfall in this part of Michigan’s eastern upper peninsula was 134.5 inches. That’s more than 11 feet of snow. In the 1976-1977 season, Whitefish Point probably didn’t dig out until somewhere around Memorial Day. That season 241 inches of snow fell (more than 20 feet).
